Afternoon, folks! Welcome back to the Mac and Mike Show, where it’s me, Mac, and my pal Mike, serving up a conversational potluck that’s part comedy, part rant, and all heart—like a Vaudeville show, minus the burlesque (for now). Picture a stage where spaghetti dinners, AI poetry, and Elon Musk’s exploding rockets all share the spotlight. That’s us in a nutshell.

We kicked off this episode with no script—dangerous territory after our Ukraine chat fell through (sorry, no special guest today). Instead, Mike wowed me with a homemade spaghetti and garlic toast feast that rivaled a five-star joint. I begged for seconds, but my belt said no. Mike, drop that recipe in the comments—you owe it to the fans!

From there, we stumbled into AI, sparked by a chat I had at a social thing a couple weeks back. An attorney buddy raved about Grok 3, xAI’s latest brainchild. “I’m smarter than Grok 2,” he bragged, “but Grok 3? Awesome.” I’ve barely scratched its surface, but my X-verified, blue-checked pal Mike’s deep in it. I tested it with wild questions—most undervalued stock, investment tips—and Grok dug up web gems I’d never find solo. Mike’s take? It’s a writer’s dream. He uses it to polish client copy or his own stuff, though it’s not perfect. “I asked why Senate Democrats nixed that women’s sports bill,” he said, “and it claimed 51 Dems in 2025. Wrong—47 with Sanders and King. It apologized, but still.” Nuances trip it up, yet it churned out a killer baseball poem for me—springtime, green grass, sleek athletes. Quality stuff—I posted it on Facebook. Check it, Mike!

Next act: Elon Musk. His latest SpaceX rocket blew up last week, and critics pounced—why trust this guy with air traffic if he can’t keep a spacecraft aloft? We say: chill. It’s his money, not ours, and every explosion teaches something. Mike, ex-Air Force turned entrepreneur, gets it: “I beat the 90% failure rate for new businesses. Risk pays off—or it doesn’t.” Musk’s flops are stepping stones, not scandals. Contrast that with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), where his AI crew’s exposing waste—like a $1.9 billion grant to “Power Forward,” a pop-up NGO with no track record. Where’s the accountability? If I ask you for $20 and say it’s for whiskey and a barfloor nap, you’d say no. Why’s $1.9 billion different?

That slid us into free speech and Trump’s State of the Union. Jeff Bezos shocked us—Washington Post’s going neutral, and the editor quit! Then there’s Rep. Al Green’s outburst—ejected for disrupting decorum. Free speech ends where my nose begins, right? Trump’s speech got partisan boos, even for naming a park after a murdered girl or honoring a cancer-surviving kid. Mike mused, “He could cure disease, and they’d still sulk.” Politics aside, Trump’s DOGE push with Musk, RFK Jr., and Tulsi Gabbard has 80% voter buzz—maybe 2020’s loss built this oddball dream team.

We wrapped with mortality (cheery, huh?). Mike’s military days taught him urgency; I’m a procrastination artist—taxes in October, baby. What’s the world look like in 20 years—AI, space tourism, or a Golden Dome against Chinese satellite threats? Palmer Luckey, Oculus founder, got a shoutout—an unsung patriot building AI for the U.S., not profit. Time will tell if we thrive or implode.

So, that’s our Vaudeville spin—spaghetti to SpaceX, Grok to graft. Mike’s praying for 60 GOP senators in 2026; I’m just hoping my barber doesn’t mistake me for a dog. Catch you next time—Mac and Mike, out!

Looking for the poem authored by Grok 3, about the beginning of baseball season? Here it is:

“Beneath the sun of early spring, New grass unfurls, a vibrant thing. The diamond gleams, a stage so grand, For athletes carved by nature’s hand. A crack of bat, a soaring flight, The ball arcs through the warming light. With grace they sprint, they leap, they dive, Each motion pure, each play alive. The pitcher coils, a storm restrained, Then hurls with might, precision gained. The fielder flows, a dancer’s sway, To snatch the sphere from daylight’s play. In dust and sweat, their beauty shines, A symphony of taut, strong lines. Through budding days and tender green, Baseball returns—spring’s sweetest scene.” Grok took like 3 seconds to create this poem.

Mac says: AI is already too “smart”

Mike’s Spaghetti Sauce Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 45 OZ Ragu Chunky Combination Garden Sauce or your favorite brand
  • 1 Lb high quality hamburger. I prefer the least fat but some like more fat.
  • Diced Mirepoix – get at most grocery stores. Onions, Celery and Carrots
  • Healthy portion of Sun Dried Tomatoes – add to your liking
  • 1 Can Mushrooms – Small or regular size – Your choice
  • 6 to 8 stalks of Asparagus chopped into small pieces – optional
  • Add a good amount of Ketchup,to your taste. Gives it some real zip, trust me.
  • Sugar or Xylitol add to your taste. I use Xylitol for health benefits. Don’t use more than a quarter cup Xylitol per 45 OZ sauce. If you want it sweeter after that use sugar
  • 2 Packages Rao’s Spaghetti or your favorite brand

Note: you can cook and freeze the sauce in smaller containers for individuals or small families if 45 OZ sauce is too much for one meal. Also, cook spaghetti as needed.

Cooking:

  • Cook hamburger on Medium to Medium High to brown and use a spatula to chop into small pieces. Turn heat down when browned.
  • Add Diced Mirepoix, Sun Dried Tomatoes and chopped Asparagus to browned hamburger and cook on low until softened, approximately 10 minutes
  • Add canned mushrooms. If you prefer fresh add them 5 minutes or so after adding the above.
  • Add Sugar or Xylitol and Ketchup to taste
  • Once you have the flavor where you want let it simmer on low while cooking spaghetti. I’m guessing you know how to boil water and spaghetti. 🙂
  • Put your favorite store bought garlic bread in the preheated oven to make sure it is done around the right time. 8 to 10 minutes.

Note: I often prefer to make my own garlic bread from Martin’s Potato Rolls by simply spreading butter and garlic powder on it and putting it under the toaster oven broiler. Add other spices you like, salt, peper, oregano etc.

Also add other spices you might like to your sauce. Be inventive! However, it is recommended to add them at the end and of course, parmesan and or other cheese if you like it

Prep time 5 to10 minutes – Cook time approximately 30 minutes.
