In this episode, Mac and Mike discuss debt and deficits. Isn’t it odd that people who live by financial limits vote for officials who live with virtually no limits? Try to call your bank and tell them you want your $20,000 credit limit raised to $50,000. Then wait for the laugh.

It was only a few years ago I had to explain to my youngest daughter (in her mid-twenties) that the government did not make money. She was shocked. She actually thought the government produced things and made a profit. The whole conversation started when she was asking me about all the various taxes taken off her now substantial paycheck.

My daughter was even more shocked to discover how the Federal Government could simply raise their own debt limit but that states could not. I then asked if she won 2 million dollars and had to give half away would she give it to charity or governments if given a choice. Even at her young age, she did not hesitate to say charity. Then she asked who in the world would willingly give their money to a government?

Why does everyone see that so clearly? It is because we innately understand that governments are wasteful. They are run by bureaucrats and politicians that could care less about spending money carefully. If our governments simply ran themselves like many households people would be much better off. It is easy to spend someone else’s money. Not so much your own.

In the video, I ask who is at fault here? Is it our government or is it us? We cannot complain if we do not make our concerns known. Write or call your Representative or Senator and express yourself calmly but firmly. We cannot keep going on like this. It simply weakens our entire country when we spend like drunken sailors.
