Last week Mac and I talked about the 4th Amendment to the Constitution. We had planned to move on and talk about other Amendments. However, in the week that followed another pertinent case related to the 1st and 4th Amendments came to our attention. That was the raid of Project Veritas by the FBI.
Like a magician who distracts you to produce an illusion, the focus of the news can create a similar scenario. When I think about all the stories this year that distracted us I realized some of the most important issues are going unnoticed by many.
Trump tore the blinders off to the truth. There is no accountability in many of our top government agencies. It is not far off from what was happening at the VA. To help fix that Trump instituted the VA Accountability Act. They were getting away with murder (literally in some cases) at the VA.
We need something like that in our other Federal agencies. Things like the NSA, CIA, FBI, and even the IRS need cleaning up. Accountability needs to be restored in order for the people to have faith in these institutions. They are eroding our freedoms. We are letting it happen.
